Position Overview:
Duke Kunshan University （DKU） is a Sino-US Joint Venture University approved by the Ministry of Education ａｎｄ co-founded by Duke University, Wuhan University ａｎｄ Kunshan City Government. DKU is a non-profit public welfare social organization with independent legal status. The campus is located in Kunshan Yangcheng Lake Science Park, Jiangsu Province. DKU seeks to appoint one lab manager for the Digital Fabrication Lab （Fablab）. Working closely with faculty members ａｎｄ lab instructors, the lab manager will support the development of Fablab infrastructure for rapid prototyping, technical knowledge sharing, technology innovation ａｎｄ transfer, outreaching, etc. More broadly, it is also a place to play, to create, to mentor ａｎｄ to invent: a place for learning ａｎｄ innovation. Ideally, it provides access to the environment, the skills, the materials ａｎｄ the advanced technology to allow anyone anyｗｈｅｒｅ to make （almost） anything. The lab manager will be responsible for building, maintaining ａｎｄ upgrading the teaching-related hardware/software/cloud infrastructure, establishing lab protocols, ａｎｄ launching instructional tools for potential users on campus. Successful candidate will receive mentoring in teaching that prepares him/her well for future career development. The innovative undergraduate curriculum at DKU also enables successful candidates to be involved in undergraduate research activities in collaboration with faculty members within the Division of Natural ａｎｄ Applied Sciences. DKU located in Kunshan China, about 30km ｆｒｏｍ Shanghai. DKU offers a series of graduate degree programs ａｎｄ launches its undergraduate degree program in 2018. Our campus provides an innovative, interdisciplinary undergraduate liberal arts experience to a student body that consists of over 2000 students ｆｒｏｍ more than 70 countries ａｎｄ 200+ faculty.

Chair, Division of Natural ａｎｄ Applied Sciences of Undergraduate Program ａｎｄ lab director in corresponding disciplines
Essential Duties:
1. Support in developing ａｎｄ maintaining the daily operation of the lab.
2. Plan ａｎｄ set up a cloud printing service with the support of Office of Information Technology （OIT）.
3. Responsible for procurement ａｎｄ setup of equipment such as 3D printers of various types, 3D scanners, machine vision cameras, robot hands, VR/AR/MR devices ａｎｄ relevant control systems.
4. Support projects running on the platform, particularly health ａｎｄ sustainability associated technology development.
5. Build ａｎｄ maintain a website for the lab setup ａｎｄ maintain an internal repository for knowledge sharing.
6. Provide training ａｎｄ technical support for new users of the lab.
7. Maintain material list ａｎｄ order supplies.
8. Promote Fablab Space in various on- ａｎｄ off-campus events.
9. Assist in organizing guided tours, informal user group discussions ａｎｄ formal seminars to facilitate exchange of knowledge.
10. Coordinate with faculty mentors ａｎｄ signature work committee on potential use of DKU Fablab Space in signature work projects.
11. Coordinate with EHS office ａｎｄ other relevant staff members to ensure lab safety.
12. Perform other duties as the lab grows ａｎｄ complexity.
13. University employees&amp；＃039； job responsibilities will continue to expand in scope ａｎｄ depth as the University grows in size ａｎｄ complexity in its programs.
Required Qualifications:
1. A master’s degree in an engineering ｏｒ design field involving digital fabrication, robotics, human machine interactions ｏｒ relevant fields.
2. Five years of relevant working experience. Prior involvement in a Fablab ｏｒ digital fabrication lab is a plus.
3. English speaking ａｎｄ writing skills for effective communication.
4. Programming skills in C++, Python ｏｒ Matlab for human-machine interface.
5. Strong organizational ａｎｄ communications skills in English ａｎｄ Chinese.
6. Previous knowledge ａｎｄ working experience of CNC, 3D scanning, 3D printing, VR, CAD tools ａｎｄ ROS （Robot operation system） is desirable.
7. Previous training ａｎｄ experience in machine shop is a plus.
8. Previous knowledge of cloud printing services, such as 3DPrinterOS, as well as building Git repository is a plus.
